Clay relief tile of the Sphinx

Reattached. The sphinx is wearing a polos on its head, reminiscent of female statues (Korai) of the archaic period. It has the body of a lion, seated on its hind quarters, while its wing is folded, touching its head.
It was found in the Eastern cemetery of Ambracia and dates back to the early Classical Period.
It is exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Arta (INo 1283) in Hall B/ Cemeteries of Ambracia.
